Seaside was created by Avi Bryant. Bruce Tate only wrote about it in his newest book.
I also believe Avi got the idea from Paul Graham.
Interestingly, Avi started implementing his ideas in Ruby, back in the 1.6 days of Ruby. Continuations were a bit buggy in Ruby back then. He then discovered Smalltalk and Squeak and moved on to that.
